Cottage. Late C17 with C20 additions. Timber framed with red brick nogging; plain tile roof. End lobby-entry house of 2 framed bays. One storey and attic. Integral brick end stack to left; two C20 gabled dormers with 2-light wooden casements. Framing: square panels, 3 from sole-plate to wall-plate. 2-window front, wooden-framed 2-light metal casements; boarded door in left-hand gable end. Exposed collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts and V-struts. C20 one-storey lean-to addition to left; another entrance at rear. Interior: central upper cruck roof truss; ground-floor timber framed partition; ground-floor left-hand room has chamfered beam with ogee stops, wide joists and large open fireplace; C17 newel staircase at rear of stack. Blocked doorway at south end of east wall, entrance now in south wall. E. Mercer, English Vernacular Houses, H.M.S.O. (1979), p.197 and plates 11 and 80.
