GV II
Fish cellars, now converted into a terrace of houses. Circa late C18 or early C19.
Rendered and painted stone rubble, rear range partly slate and asbestos slate hung
above ground floor. Bitumen coated rag slate and asbestos slate roofs with hipped
ends.
Ranges continue around three sides of an open courtyard with a curtain wall and
entrance on the fourth, right hand, side. Front range originally of one room depth,
probably with open sheds on ground floor and net lofts above. Extended and remodelled
in circa mid C19 forming range of five cottages with double depth plans, four with
central cross passages. Range on left, possibly offices or harbour master's house.
Range to rear with lofts raised up above ground floor on stone rubble piers,
reinforced in late C20 with concrete piers.
Front 2 storey range overlooks harbour. Overall 13-window range with four cottages on
right each with 3-window symmetrical fronts, 12-pane sashes and casements and 4-panel
doors. Cottage to left with single window front. Rear range; slate hung above ground
floor. Line of brick niches for pressing poles along rear wall.
Interior front range of cottages with circa mid C19 interiors.
