TQ 2981 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER MARSHALL STREET W1 58/87 Marshall Street Baths 28.9.82 GV II
Public Baths. 1928-31 by A. W. S. and K. M. S. Cross. Steel framed red brick and stone clad forebuilding with pantile roof and ferro-concrete roof structure to pools behind. 'Roman Renaissance' facade. 3 storeys, attic storey and dormered pantile roof. 1O windows wide with left hand break of 3 close set windows pedimented and quoined with belvedere - attic rising above. Rusticated stone faced ground floor arcaded beneath Doric entablature. 1st floor has tall architraved and corniced windows with apron panels, the left hand break with canted stone bay, 2nd floor has high set square, architraved windows; attic storey over main entablature has stone panels in place of lights; attic cornice. Principal features of interest are the 2 swimming pools with ferro- concrete barrel-vaults and marble lined halls.
