Moss House
II
House, now farmhouse. Said to be 1782, with early addition; altered. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roof. Double-depth plan, with addition at left end. Two storeys and five bays (first added); first floor sill-band; unsymmetrical composition with pediment to second bay (formerly left end); doorway to fourth bay, with pilaster jambs, glazed door with overlight, added canopy on carved brackets; three French windows at ground floor, with margin panes, double doors at left end with matching glazing in the upper half, all these with plain surrounds and the windows now with louvred shutters; five windows at first floor, sashes in second and fourth bays but otherwise three-light flat-faced flush-mullioned, all with similar shutters; moulded gutter brackets; simple pediment to second bay, containing an oculus. Ridge chimney at junction with first bay; gable chimney and gable coping at right-hand end.
Rear; single-storey service wing to fifth bay; garage doorway to first bay.
