4/99 The Sham Bridge to 9/3/60 Middle Pond. Busbridge Lakes
GV II
Bridge. C18. Sandstone rubble. Imitation bridge of 11 arches with slab voussoirs over, standing on top of the weir carrying water into the lower pond, and rising gently in the centre. Part of a landscape garden created by Philip Cartaret Webb between 1748-1770, in the Romantic tradition, and described in "Neales: Seats of the Nobility and Gentry". The Garden is now designated a Garden of Historic Interest in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest - Part 40 (Surrey) II*.
