Rectory now private house. Circa early C19, said to have been built in 1813 and designed by Benjamin Batley Catt of Ipswich. Flemish bound red brick, possibly originally rendered. Plain tile roofs with crowstepped gable ends with terracotta moulded coping. Brick axial and gabled end stacks with groups of diagonally-set shafts. PLAN: Main axial range with central entrance hall and flanking cross-wings projecting at the back with single storey range in the space between. Tudor Gothic style. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and 2 storey and attic. Asymmetrical east front with slightly projecting cross-wings left and right with stepped gables, that to the right with polygonal brick finial, and on left with projecting stack. 1:2:1 window range of 1 and 2-light moulded wooden mullion and transom windows with glazing bars; in chamfered openings. Central porch with stepped gable with brick finial and chamfered 4-centred arch. Symmetrical 2 storey 3-bay S garden front, similar 2-light windows those on ground floor larger, the centre a French casement. At rear (w) 3 stepped gables, right with stack, left with similar windows to front and side and single storey centre gable projects and has canted bay window. INTERIOR: Open-well, open string staircase with stick balusters and moulded handrail. SOURCE: Dictionary of architects of Suffolk Buildings 1800-1914, page 64.
