Former Tramways Sub-Station at rear of No 72 Chiswick High Road
II
1899-1901, by William Curtis Green (1875-1960). Monumental classical building of red brick with stone dressings. Five bay front facing courtyard and with its end bays set forward slightly and with entrances in them. Windows with idiosyncratic hoods between the bays. Building finished with bold bracketed cornice surmounted by heavy banded parapet with concave recesses over the pavilions. Vigorous sculptured panel over one of the entrances with inscription "LUET" (London United Electric Tramways). Interior has enriched ironwork to staircase and colonnaded gallery.
