ILSINGTON SX 87 SW 8/86 Ingsdon Mill and Mill House 23.8.55 (formerly listed as Oaklands [Mill and Mill House)] - II
House, formerly a mill and mill house. Probably C18 or early C19 with later additions. Solid rendered walls, probably of stone. Slated roofs; mill building half-hipped, addition to right with lean-to roof. Mill house has stone chimneystack with tapered top on left-hand gable. 3-storeys; addition to right 2-storied. Building is in 3 sections: tall mill block in centre with slightly lower mill house to left and lean-to of uncertain date and function to right. Mill house is 3 windows wide, all the windows having been boarded up. Doorway to right has 4-panel door, the 2 lower panels flush, the 2 upper panels now glazed. Plank porch with lean-to roof of corrugated plastic. Mill block is 2 windows wide. Ground storey has old plank door and plain old door frame in centre; old 2-light wood mullioned at either side, unglazed but with vertical iron bar in centre of each light. In centre of second storey a former loading door, now a window; C20 gabled wood canopy above it. 1 window to right of it and 2 in third storey, all with C20 wood casements of 2 lights, each light with 2 panes. Lean-to is 1 window wide. Ground storey has a C20 plank door in an old frame. Second storey has a 1-light C20 wood window. Wheel at rear of mill block has been removed, but pit remains. Interior not inspected.
