These 2 houses form a block with No 1 Elder Street (qv). Mid C19 facades probably
onto early C18 buildings (Survey of London, Page 89 Vol XXVII). Stucco facades,
roofs not visible. 3 storeys and dormers. No 9 has 3 windows, No 10, 2 windows.
All sashes with some glazing bars and architrave surrounds with sills (supported
on consoles at 2nd floor height). String course at 1st floor sill height. No
9 has a ground floor shop front with entablature with cornice and architrave,
fluted pilasters, and later window. Doorway to passage entrance at side. No
10 has a cornice on brackets over former shop window and door.
Nos 9 and 10 form a group with the road surface and Nos 1 to 23 (odd), 24 to 36
(even) and the road surface on Elder Street.
