Details

NZ 04 NE MUGGLESWICK WASKERLEY 11/128 Boundary stone c.5 metres north-east of gate to Waskerley Farm on Nanny Mayer's Incline GV II Railway boundary marker. Probably circa 1844; for Stockton and Darlington Railway Company. Tapered sandstone slab about one metre high with round top. Tooled faces, with S&D inscribed in Roman capitals on south face. Historical note: the Stockton and Darlington Company took over the Stanhope and Tyne Railroad Company after it encountered financial problems. Source: W.W.
