1. NEWBIGGIN 1549 (South Side) No 47 NZ 1600 NE 5/188 1.8.52.

II* GV

2. C18 house of two storeys in coursed stone. Modern pantile roof. Five windows, centre portion breaks forward slightly under a pediment. Chamfered quoins to angles, moulded stone eaves cornice. First floor central window is round-headed with moulded dripstone and intersecting glazing bars. Flanking windows are pointed-arched with dripstones, the blind tympana painted with glazing bars to match central window. Gothic details to most features of the elevation. Ground floor windows are angled bays under shaped roofs with five lights with cusped heads, ornamented spandrels and clustered column mullions. Interior of these bays is vaulted, with ornamental ribs. Central moulded stone doorcase with nail head ornament to match the cornices of bay windows. Either side of this house is a one-window wing. Left-hand wing has one window in stone surround, no glazing bars, ground floor rendered. Moulded string. To right, rendered. String above plain door. One window with thick glazing bars, plain stone window frame.
