5/86 Garden House including Front Garden Area Wall to South
GV II
Estate Gardener's house. Circa late C18 or early C19, possibly a remodelling of an earlier range. Red brick in English and Flemish bonds. Red clay pantile hipped roof with deep eaves at front with soffit brackets and pyramid roof to higher centre with brick stack at apex.
Rectangular plan with central entrance facing small walled front garden, inside north west corner of main walled garden (qv).
1 and 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2:1:2 bay south front. The outer 2 bays of 1 storey have large 12-pane sashes, the centre bay has flush panelled and glazed door and gabled porch on wooden posts with smaller 12-pane sash above in centre 2-storey tower which has pyramidal roof. At rear similar 12-pane sashes at centre. Including garden area wall in front (south) in Flemish bond red brick with red clay pantile capping and curved corner.
