RICKINGHALL SUPERIOR CANDLE STREET (NORTH SIDE) TM 0474 7/139 Nine Mills Headstones from - about 2 to 15m north of Church of St Mary GV II A group of 9 headstones to members of Mills family. Late C18 to mid C19. Various stones. A row of 6 stones, all early C19; behind a row of 3 to J. Mills, d.1782, F. Mills, d.1827 and E Mills, d.1858. All 9 headstones are inscribed with the same scene in a circular surround in segmental heads, weeping seated putti with a skull in one hand, a pyramid in the background, draped sides. The group is of interest as a single type variously treated over a long period.
