Details
ST4615 NORTON SUB HAMDON CP GREAT STREET (South side) 9/211 Court Farmhouse, and front boundary railings 19.4.61 GV II House at end of row. C17, modified. Ham stone ashlar; thatched roof between coped gables; stone chimney stacks. 'T'-plan; 2 storeys, 5 bays. Hollow-chamfered mullioned windows in chamfered recesses, with continuous labels at both levels, the lower stepped up over doorway; all windows 3- light except in bay 1 which is blank above and has a 2-light below; all windows rectangular-leaded with iron-framed opening lights; to lower bay 4 a moulded flat-arched doorway with C20 door. C20 windows in west gable and to rear; interior much altered with very little early work visible. Timber framed partition with dado in hall, some deep chamfered beams with plain runouts; west gable rebuilt and fireplace and chimney removed; similarly rear gable of extension largely rebuilt. About 4 metres north of house are iron hoop railings set on low stone wall, with/gateway opposite door, adding to setting of house.
