Details

ST4715 NORTON SUB HAMDON CP RECTORY LANE (North end) 9/233 Mill Farmhouse (formerly listed as Mill) 19.4.61 GV II Detached farmhouse. Circa 1800. Ham stone cut and squared, ashlar dressings; double Roman clay tiled roof between high stepped coped gables, probably replacing thatch; one brick and one stone chimney stack. Two storeys with attic, 5 bays irregular fenestration. Bays 1 and 2 may be a former outhouse now incorporated into house, with 2-light horizontal-bar casement windows above and a 3-light below, all under concrete lintols, with boarded door in plain opening to right of bay 2: remaining bays have plain mullioned windows with beading, in simple architraves, 3-light both levels bay 4 and 2-light elsewhere, metal opening lights, horizontal bars; lean-to extension against west gable with a circular window to match. East gable has matching 2-light window to attic, and entrance with beaded surround to doorway. Lean-to extension at rear. Interior not seen.
