WIDECOMBE-IN- SX 67 NE THE-MOOR 1/149 Old clapper bridge about 150 - metres north-east of Lower Cator Farmhouse GV II

Clapper bridge over West Webburn river. Now disused. C17 or earlier. Granite. Consists of a large, worn slab of stone (a clapper-stone) about 3 metres long and 1 metre wide, slightly cambered in the centre. In the middle of the bridge, running lengthways, is a series of small shallow holes, possibly for a later boundary fence. The bridge rests on a large, roughly-squared trestle-stone at either end. About 15 metres to the north-west is a later clapper bridge carrying the existing road to Lower Cator Farmhouse; this is also listed.
