7/86 Nos. 6 and 7, Isherwood Fold (formerly listed as No.6 Isherwood Fold) 27.1.1967 GV II Pair of cottages, dated 1718, with later addition at right end. Coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, slate roof with chimneys at both original gables (roof of addition continues beyond that on the right). Single pile plan, each cottage 2 bays making a long range of 4 bays (with 5th added) and 2 storeys, but with a broad single storey extension to the rear of each. Doorway to baffle entry at left end has lintel with a moulded square panel containing incised lettering "C I" and a pattern 1718 of 3 groups of 5 dots (domino fashion). Originally four 4-light windows on each floor, all with slightly recessed chamfered mullions and those at ground floor with simple hoodmoulds, but at ground floor only the 3rd is intact; the 1st and 2nd lack some mullions (the 1st with an added light to the left), and the 4th has been altered as a door with a large window inserted to the right of it. Rear wall has at ground floor between the extensions a 6-light window with a hoodmould, the 4th light blocked; extensions have mainly altered windows, but some mullions remain.
