Details

EAST LEAKE COSTOCK ROAD SK 52 NE (south side) 5/15 Baptist Church II Baptist church. Mid C18, enlarged 1839, with C19 and C20 extensions. Red brick, some rubble. Slate roof. Dogtooth eaves. Plinth to east, being rubble in parts. 2 storeys, north gabled entrance front of 3 bays. Single central tripartite sash with glazing bars to top, each sash divided by single reeded pilaster strip with single patera. Either side are single doorways with decorative overlights. Above are 2 glazing bar sashes. All openings have rendered wedge lintels. In the apex is a single rendered plaque inscribed "GBC 1839". The east side has 2 arched casements with single similarly arched small casement to the left. Above are 4 glazing bar sashes. The south wall has 2 larger similar casements and single similar small casement to the right. Above are 4 glazing bar sashes. Adjacent this wall are 16 slate C18 and C19 headstones. To the rear/south are later C19 and C20 extensions. Interior with box pews, panelled west gallery and wrought iron altar rails.
