7/75 Springfield Farmhouse and farmbuilding on right return

GV II

Farmhouse and adjoining farmbuilding, the latter now used for storage. Late C18; farmbuilding heightened in early C20. Narrow brick in Flemish bond, upper storey of farmbuilding in engineering brick; renewed pantiled roof; brick chimney stacks.

2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse. Central replaced door under rubbed-brick flat arch behind C20 gabled wood porch. Horizontal-sliding sashes: 24-pane to left of door, replaced 12-pane to right; blocked window above door with 18- pane to left and replaced 12-pane to right. Cogged eaves. 2-storey, 3-bay farmbuilding: central elliptical-arched opening; flanking late C20 casements in partly-blocked openings with elliptical heads; 2 replaced casements above. Continuous steeply-pitched roof with rendered verges; corbelled-out brick kneeler at left. Left end stack with top bands; identical stack above junction with farmbuilding.

Farmbuilding included for group value. Late C20 addition on rear of farmbuilding is not of special interest.
