BRANCH ROAD E1 Shadwell 1. 4431 Archway to Rotherhithe TQ 3680 24/1 Tunnel Approach II
2. 1908. Archway over tunnel approach road identical to that on the Surrey shore, consisting of 2 massive banded granite piers with plinths and cornice caps, abutting flanged and bolted semi-circular steel arch, illustrating the arched bracing of the tunnel itself. Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice Chief Engineer. Architect: Thomas Blashill. Tunnel opened the Prince of Wales (later George V) in 1908.
