II
Home of late C17 or early C18, refenestrated and possibly refronted in early-mid C19. Subsequent alterations to roof, probably levering pitch. Two storeys, three windows slightly irregular. Coursed, squared stones Fairly high pitched stone flagged roof with wide copings and kneelers, central and end stacks. Replaced sash windows in box frames with glazing bars and added outer shutters. A modern bow inserted at left and a modern stone porch. Heavy lintels.
Interior shows three ground floor rooms (hall with service and parlour ends) all having original heavy beam with stopped chamfers, tongued stops downstairs, and original joists. Narrow staircase of circa 1700 with closed string. Roof has very heavy principals with collars at two levels. One level of through purlins, now turned 90 from original position. Possibly the roof once had king posts but it has been altered although using original wood. House was once an inn, and old long settle is a fixture in ball place.
