Details
OVENDEN WOOD ROAD 1. 1164 (South Side) Long Can Nos 3 to 10 (consec) SE 02 NE 4/55 3.11.54. II 2. Dated 1637. Good traditional stone house with stone roof. 2 storeys. Long irregular south front with 2-storeyed porch topped by parapet and finials. Arched inner and, more elaborate, outer doorways. The dated lintel inscribed IMM. Mullioned windows with dripmoulds and carved labels, to west of porch a stepped and transomed window with gable over. Gabled crosswing beyond again with outbuildings in front (of little interest). Various later doors. Irregular, gabled return to east. North side has simpler mullioned windows and 2 gabled cross wings, corresponding to front. Various doorways, that to No 6 with stone above dated 1708 and inscribed IMS. Lean-to between crosswings. Whole house in use as store at time of inspection.
