GV II
Cottage made from subdivision of larger house. C17, remodelled and extended in C19. Plastered cob on rubble footings; rubble and brick stacks; thatched roof. Now a 3-room cottage facing south-west continuous with Shoplands Cottage (q.v.) to right. Cottage appears to occupy part of hall, through passage and small service room of former house and includes C19 extension to right (north-west) of former service room. Rear lateral stack to right extension and axial stack in party wall with Shoplands, both C19 stacks. 2 storeys. Irregular 3-window front of late C19 and C20 casements, some with glazing bars. Door right of centre with late C19 porch with gabled slate roof with crested ridge-tiles, glazed sides, trelliswork on front, and shaped bargeboards. Roof line and eaves drop over C19 extension. Roof half-hipped at end. Interior largely result of C19 refurbishment but includes C17 oak plank-and-muntin screen to left of through passage with chamfered and scroll- stopped muntins. Roof inaccessible.
