SHADY BOWER 1. 1594 The Wilderness
SU 12 NE 16/564 II 2. Small L plan house circa 1830-40 possible enlargement of earlier cottage. Part nearest road is of 2 storeys, rendered with low pitch hipped slate roof, flat eaves. One window to road, sash on 1st floor, 2 light casement ground floor. East front, one similar window on 1st floor, late glazing. Ground floor has canted bay, moulded surrounds to lights, sash to front, later glazing, moulded cornice. L shaped block to north of one storey and attic, the east front tile hung. Gable end slate roof. Gables over semi dormer windows with pierced bargeboards, 2 sashes glazing bars intact, moulded surrounds. On ground floor 2 shallow canted bay windows, 2 light casements to front moulded cornices. Central panelled door under trellis porch. Wing to west has similar bargeboards to gable over 1st floor window. Picturesque.
