II

Farmhouse. Early-mid C17, modernised 1984. Plastered cob on rubble footings, volcanic stacks, most topped with C19 brick; thatched roof. 3-room-and-through passage house facing south-east with service room at left (south-west) end. End stacks to service and inner rooms with lateral stack projecting to rear of hall and gable-ended stair turret to rear of inner room. 2-storeys. Irregular 6-window front of 1984 windows of various sizes. Front passage door left of centre has early-mid C17 oak frame; double ovolo moulding with scroll stops, and a similar frame to rear passage door. Inner room stack has C17 volcanic stone chimney shaft. Rear stair turret includes early-mid C17 oak 2-light window with chamfered mullions. Inside hall has exposed early-mid C17 double-ovolo moulded crossbeam with scroll stops and similar crossbeam to inner room with bar-runout stops. Modernisation of 1984 included removal of some early-mid C17 features including ovolo-moulded oak mullion windows containing diamond-pane leaded glass from front, oak window lintels (ovolo-moulded with scroll stops) and similarly treated door- frame possibly from hall to inner room. C20 cottage extension adjoining to north-east not included.
