GV II

House with shops. Circa late C17 and early C18 with C18, C19 and C20 altera- tions. Timber-framed with painted mathematical tile front; tile and slate hung at rear. Plain tile hipped roofs. No 29 on right (south) is circa late C17 and partly refronted in C20; No 27 on left is circa early C18. 2 storeys and attic. C20 shop fronts on ground floor. 3:1 bays. First floor of 3 bays on left has painted mathematical tile front with cornice and rendered parapet and 3 4-pane sashes. Right hand bay has large plate glass display window on first floor and stepped parapet. Dormers. Adjoining wings at rear, tile hung on left with hipped roof; slate hung on right with half-hipped roof and with flat roof extension. Interior: No 27 has mid C19 stick baluster stairs from first floor to attic. No 29 has various chamfered beams on ground floor, chamfered cross- beam on first floor with run-out stops and C18 staircase from first floor to attic with scratch-moulded panelling to side.
