Details

CHURT ROAD 1. 5393 (West Side) (off) Hindhead Hatch Hill House SU 83 NE 7/21 II 2. Early C20 in a neo-baroque style. Entrance front of 2 storeys and attic. Four-window central section is of squared snecked rubble with coved cornice and high-pitched hipped tiled roof with hipped dormers. Outer sections of diapered red brick. At left a one-bay blank part with heavy modillion cornice; at right an irregular 2-bay projecting part with outer bay roof sweeping down to ground floor eaves. Sash windows with bars in dormers, long leaded casements below, those on ground floor having round relieving arches with projecting keystones. Large door, with oblong fanlight, in eared stone architrave under cornice hood with heavy brackets and bearing huge scrolled open pediment clasping vase of fruit. Two handsome rain water heads. Garden front of diapered red brick in a heavy Georgian style, 2, 3 and 2 bays.
