SU 73-7450 & 73-7451 ODIHAM HIGH STREET (south side) 17/76 No 19 (Manisty Cottage) 24.11.61 and No 21 (Gable Cottage)

C15, C16, early C19. A later medieval timber-framed hall, with a 2-storeyed cross-wing at the west end still showing a gable to front and rear: rear additions of C17 and C18 with 4 gables, one hipped. At one time a shop between 2 cottages but now 2 dwellings. 2 storeys, 4 windows to the early C19 front (north). Red tile roof. Painted brickwork, some red brickwork and rendering at the rear. Timber-frame upper walling at west end and a rear gable, stepped plinth. The upper windows are casements, ground-floor are sashes in exposed frames, with a bow-shaped (former shop) window with cornice, resting on a (modern) bracket. Doorways have canopies on brackets, architrave to No 21. Inside, massive Tudor chimney with good 1st floor fireplace, also an arched (wooden) doorway in the original screens passage.
