Details

HIGH STREET 1. 5393 (East Side) No 72 SU 9033 SE 2/75 II GV 2. No 72 is of 3 parts. The southern part is timber framed, probably C17, one storey and attic, 3 bays. Steeply pitched tiled roof with 3 gabled dormers. Upper walls have banded plain and fishscale tile hanging. Rubble stonework below. Rebuilt chimney at north gable end. The next part is of early C20, set back and built to blend with its neighbour. Two storeys and attic, 2 bays. Steep hipped tiled roof with tall hipped dormer. Left bay projects under roof with canted hip. First floor banded plain and fishscale tiles. Brick ground floor in English bond with red stretchers and blue headers. Large leaded casements; square bay window at ground floor right Projecting gabled porch at ground floor left. The northern part is a decorative building, probably of mid C19. Two storeys, 3 bays. Fairly high pitched tiled roof, quarter hipped at right, with tall end chimneys. Coursed malmstone cut to brick size with dark spotted galleting. Quoins, 1st floor band and alternating block window dressings of red brick. Modern casements on 1st floor, plate glass windows below under cambered arches. Central window blocked on both floors. Foundation of larger rubble.
