10/239 Barn north-east of Whitrigg

Barn. Late C18. Mixed sandstone and cobble rubble walls, with red sandstone V-jointed quoins, under graduated greenslate roof with coped gables and kneelers. Large 2-storey, 7-bay barn. Central and right doors in quoined stone surrounds; 2 left segmental-arched openings with keyed voussoirs. Right part extension and left external stone steps to loft door in stone surround. Right return wall is parallel with front of the house and has oval vent. These flanking barns give the impression of house-wings. Listed for group value with Whitrigg.
