2 terraced houses. c1693. Built by Nicholas Barbon, refronted
1965 in replica restoration. Brown brick under tiled roofs
with dormers. 3 storeys, attics and basements. 3 windows and
half blind window each.
No.42: wood doorcase with Doric pilasters, fluted frieze with
pateral and dentil cornice, fanlight and panelled door. Red
brick dressings and flat arches to flush framed sash windows.
Cornice below parapet. Lead rainwater pipe. No.43: wood
doorcase with carved brackets carrying hood, fanlight and
panelled door. Stone bands at floor levels. Red brick
dressings and flat arches with stucco keystones to flush
framed sash windows. Parapet. Lead rainwater head and pipe.
INTERIORS: not inspected but known to retain early fabric.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railings with torch
flambe finials to areas.
