GV II

House. Probably c1700, remodelled c1790-6; altered and recently renovated internally. Sandstone random rubble now rendered, stone slate roof. L-plan formed by 2-unit single-depth front range with full-height rear outshut to centre and right. 2 storeys and 3 windows, symmetrical; central doorway with plain surround and panelled and glazed door; 2 vertical-rectangular windows at ground floor and 3 square windows above, all with plain surrounds and all now with C20 top-hung casements. Stone gutter corbels; gable chimneys. Single-storey gabled porch to right-hand return wall; various altered windows to this and rear. INTERIOR altered. HISTORY: formerly occupied by engineer responsible for operating Finsley Gate turn bridge; forms group with former warehouse (qv) and forge (qv) at Finsley Gate boatyard and wharf.
