Canal warehouse, now store. 1841-4, the 2nd warehouse built on this site; altered. Coursed squared sandstone with raised rusticated quoins, slate roof. Rectangular 5-bay plan parallel to canal. 4 storeys and 2 widely-spaced windows, symmetrical; with a very prominent full-width canopy over the lower 2 floors carried on cantilevered cast-iron I-beams and short cast-iron columns, a central 4-stage loading bay (now blocked with C20 brick) with hoist-housing rising through the canopy; and square windows (blocked). Rear has late C19 hipped canopy and storeyed hoist housing, blocked windows. INTERIOR not inspected. Forms important element of group with Wharf Master's House & Toll Office (qv), warehouse attached to this (qv), centre warehouse (qv), stable block on east side of yard (qv) and boundary wall and gateways to yard .
