The remains of a large complex of granaries and maltings to the rear of The Rising Sun Public House (qv). C18. Timber-framed and rendered on the upper storey, random flint and red brick to the ground storey. Corrugated iron roofs. Various roof-lights. 2 storeys; in 2 sections, higher at the south end. INTERIOR: south end in 3 bays: very heavy chamfered main beams with run-off stops to the ground storey; joists covered. On the upper storey the tie-beams have long ached braces; considerable evidence of reused timbers. Roof with a ridge-piece. The lower north end is in 6 bays. Heavy ceiling beams to the ground storey. On the upper storey the tie-beams have arched braces and the wall framing has primary braces and bisected studs. Flimsy roof with a ridge-piece; no principal rafters; clasped purlins.
