House, believed to have been almshouse in early C18. Perhaps earlier addition to left and C19/C18 outbuilding abuts right-hand end. Painted stone rubble. Slated roof, hipped at each end. 2 large projecting chimney-stacks in rear wall; left- hand stack broader at base, possibly to contain an oven, right-hand stack has weatherings suggesting roof formerly thatched. Original plan uncertain; there are 4 doorways in front wall, 3 of them blocked, but there can have been only 2 heated ground storey rooms. 2 storeys. Front is 3 windows wide. Symmetrical about the centre line. Present front door, off-centre to right, C19/C20, has plank door with top section opening independently. Moulded wood doorframe, wooden canopy with small slated, hipped roof on brackets. 4-light timbered window with king mullion to right in ground storey, then a smaller window (previously a doorway) at right- hand end. To left of present doorway another 1, now converted to a window. 4- light timber window with king mullion to left of that and a fourth doorway, now converted to a window, at left-hand end. Second storey has 4-light timber window with king mullion at either end with small window off centre between, probably inserted. All windows have c18/C29 wood casements. Interior: fireplaces in ground and second storeys have plain wood lintels. Roof-trusses probably C18 or early C19 have collars pegged to the face of the tursses; no ridge, purlins very lightly trenched.
