Villa. c1826-32 with later alterations. Ashlar (now stuccoes) over brick with concealed roof and end stucco stacks. Double depth plan with central hallway and full-height service range to rear.
EXTERIOR: two storeys, three first floor windows. Central break forward with ground floor porch with paired Ionic columns, architrave, frieze and cornice with blocking course, now glazed in with round-arched side windows with coloured margin-lights; within a flight of roll-edged steps to eight-fielded-panel door with overlight with margin-lights. End pilasters with sunk panels, first floor band. Ground floor has tripartite windows with one/one sashes and frieze with cornice on consoles. First floor has one/one sashes, that to centre with tooled architraves. Crowning entablature. Basement has eight/eight sash to right and tripartite window with six/six between two/two sashes to left.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including panelled shutters to windows, otherwise not inspected. Right return has full-height bow window with six/six sashes, curved on section where original. Rear retains six/six and eight/eight sashes.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Burlington House, Carrick House (qv), Compass House (qv), Imperial House (qv) and Stanmer House form a distinguished group of villas along the east side of Lypiatt Road (marked on Merrett's Map of 1834 as Suffolk Lawn), all designed by Jenkins as part of the estate laid out for James Fisher and including Suffolk Square. Designs reputed to be in the Gloucester Record Office.
