House. Early C17 with later alterations and extensions. Timber-frame with C20 brick facing to front, colourwashed render to rear over full-length clay-lump extension. Roof of pantiles, mostly black glazed, with catslide to rear over the extension. C17 brick central ridge stack of 6 linked octagonal shafts, the tops probably truncated later when overall top added. Further later stack to rear roof slope. PLAN: 2-unit lobby-entry plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range of 3-light casements. Central gabled porch and door. Rear has 2-light casements with canted bay and doors. Single-storey projecting extension. INTERIOR: close-studded framing partly visible with jowled posts and tension braces; chamfered bridging beams. Back-to-back brick open fireplaces with basket arches, and deep cupboard through stack behind fireplaces. Set of C18 open shelves with shell head. Blocked 4-light wooden mullion window in right-hand room. 2-, 4-, and 6-panel doors. Winder stair. Bolection-moulded fireplaces on first floor. C17 panelled door with cocks-head hinges to cupboard into stack on attic stair. Curved wind braces to butt-purlin roof. Though presenting a C20 front, this house retains much of its early C17 original construction intact.
