Gas works offices, now offices and walls adjoining. 1880 with later alterations including conversions to offices c1995. Red brick with terracotta tile and black brick bands, ashlar dressings to windows and copings, slate roof with external end and ridge stacks with cornices and decorative ridge tiles. Asymmetrical composition mostly in Gothic Revival style. L-plan. EXTERIOR: gables over each window. Chamfered plinth. Central breakforward, right end canted. Ground floor has three 2-light mullion windows with casements, all with chamfered sills, lintels and jambs. First-floor moulded band, then band of ornamental tiles and continuous chamfered sill band. Outer 4-centre-arched windows with casements, then central 3-light mullion and transom windows, all with arches over, that to centre has hoodmould and flower stops. Finials to gables; roof hipped to right with tall external stack. Entrance: off-centre right, 6-panel door with overlight and chamfered lintel. Gates abut this and main range: single-storey, 3-bay range then 2-storeys, 8 first-floor windows (3 to right are to chamfered angle). Single-storey range has two 2-light mullion and transom windows with 4-centre-arched overlight and blocked entrance in projecting gabled porch. 2-storey range has gabled breakforwards to second and fifth windows at first floor, full-height gabled breakforward to 7th window. Gables have stepped brickwork and chamfered copings with finials. 2 ridge stacks. Ground floor has 2- and 3-light windows with chamfered mullions and 4-centre-arched overlights, arches over in coloured brick and continuous hoodmould. First floor has continuous chamfered sill band interrupted by 2 first-floor breakforwards but carrying across breakforward to angle and with 'CHELTENHAM GAS COMPANY' to terracotta decorative modillion band below. Decorative tile impost band and eaves band. Right return (to Tewkesbury Road): 2 storeys with central 4-stage clock tower, 3 first-floor windows. Ground floor has 3-light windows with mullion and transoms and 4-centre-arched overlights. First floor has outer breakforwards. Similar 2-light windows. Modillion cornice. Clock tower has pair of 2-light lancet windows with hoodmould to third stage, surmounted by clock stage and truncated peaked

roof with lucarnes and iron cresting. INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery and plasterwork including 6-panel doors and dogleg staircase with turned balusters; hall has tile floor. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: wall at left has round-arched arcades on pilasters. Wall to right return has pilaster buttresses.
