War Memorial. 1919-20. By Leonard Crowfoot. Ashlar: Portland stone cross with York stone base. Bronze plaques. Gothic style in the form of a wayside cross. Hexagonal plinth with the names of the Fallen on bronze plaques stands on stepped base. Above the plinth a frieze of quatrefoils from which rises the shaft of the cross. At the top a foliage capital supports the cross. There are also names from the 2nd World War and from the 1956 Cyprus conflict.
The memorial is a finely detailed design and is part of a significant group of historic buildings surrounding the Green.
