GV II

2 houses with attic workshops, now shops and cafe, and adjoining offices and warehouse. c1800, altered and extended c1870, altered late C20. Painted brick with ashlar dressings and slate mansard roofs. L-plan front range, and at the rear a narrow courtyard flanked by 2-storey buildings. Front block, 4 storeys plus attics; 4 window range. Windows are mainly glazing bar sashes, many partly reglazed, with moulded surrounds and sill bands. Ground floor has 2 late C20 shopfronts with an entry between them. First floor has to left a 2-light shop window, c1870, with wooden pilasters and cornice. To right, 2 sashes. Second and third floors have 4 sashes. Mansard roof has a large 7-light workshop window to left. Rear wing, 4 and 3 storeys, has 8 windows, mostly margin pane sashes. Rear addition, to north, c1800, 3 storeys, has 4 windows, mainly glazing bar sashes. Ranges flanking the far end of the courtyard, c1870, 2 storeys, have segment-arched windows with keystones, mainly margin light sashes. At the far end of the courtyard, a Tudor arched door to a warehouse. Included for group value.
