Town house, now offices. c1885, converted and mansard roof added, 1980. Built as a town house for the Earl of Wharncliffe. Stucco, painted, with metal clad roof. Italianate style. Rusticated ground floor and basement with enriched cornice, minor cornice and renewed coped parapet. 2 storeys plus attics, mansard and basement; 5 x 4 windows. Windows are mainly plain sashes. Projecting central bay has a central window with moulded surround, pediment on brackets, and wrought-iron railing to dummy balcony. Above, a smaller window with eared architrave and similar railing to dummy balcony. Below, moulded round-arched doorcase with rusticated pilasters, enriched keystone, and cornice on enriched brackets. Recessed panelled door and wrought-iron gates. Flanking the central bay, 2 plain sashes with cornices and shaped keystones. Above, 2 plain sashes with moulded eared architraves. Below, 2 plain sashes with voussoirs and mask keystones. Left return, 4 windows, has similar fenestration plus 4 basement windows with wrought-iron guards. INTERIOR not inspected.
