House and shop. Early C17, remodelled mid C18 and later.
Colourwashed brick.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 3-window range. C20 shop front projects.
6-panelled door to left under a plain overlight. First floor
with three 6/6 unhorned sashes set within flush frames and
under gauged skewback arches. Platband at second floor. 3
similar second-floor sashes except glazing bars are of 3/6
pattern. Parapet, with another platband, conceals roof.
3-storey cross-wing to rear with a rendered west gable-end and
a truncated internal stack. 6/6 unhorned sashes and
multi-paned fixed windows of C19 origin.
INTERIOR: cellar has a former fireplace to west end. Ground
floor front area formerly 3 rooms, now a shop. Sunk-quadrant
bridging beams with jewelled tongue stops. Rear room with an
C18 cornice. Early C17 closed-string staircase rises to attic:
bulbous turned balusters, square newel posts with ball finials
and moulded handrail. First-floor front room formerly 2 rooms,
the north one with large-framed and fielded C18 panelling. C19
marble fireplace with cupboards either side. Cross-wing with a
sunk-quadrant bridging beam with a jewelled tongue stop, and a
similarly embellished wall plate. Roof replaced mid C18: front
range of principals, 2 tiers of staggered butt purlins and
collars.
