SHEFFIELD LONDON ROAD (East side) Lowfield Primary School Boundary walls, railings and gates to Lowfield Junior and Infant Schools

(Formerly listed as Boundary walls, railings and gates to Lowfield Junior and Infant Schools, LONDON ROAD) GV II Boundary walls, railings and gates. 1874. Probably by Innocent & Brown for the Sheffield School Board. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and wrought-iron gates. London Road range has to left a spiked railing with chamfered plinth, approx 75m long, with two small gateways with stone piers with chamfered copings. To right, a wall with chamfered coping and an opening without piers to left. Queen's Road range has to right a similar railing, approximately 50m long, with a gateway to right, with a large gabled pier. To left, a wall with chamfered coping. The walls meet at an acute angled rounded corner incorporating a single storey toilet block. An ancillary building to Lowfield Junior and Infant Schools (qv). Included for group value.
