Parish church. 1939-41. Rustic brick with ashlar dressings and Roman tile roofs. Arts and Crafts style. Plinth, coped parapets. PLAN: chancel, vestry, north-east chapel and transepts, nave with clerestory, north and south aisles, baptistry, west porches, west tower and stair turrets. EXTERIOR: chancel has blank east end. To south, flat-roofed vestry with 4 flush mullioned windows of various sizes. On the south side, 3 buttresses and a door. To west, square projection with a 2-light window. Transepts have single 2-light mullioned windows with a small round opening above. Gable stack to south. Nave clerestory has on each side three 4-light windows flanked by single 3-light windows, all with flush mullions. Flat roofed aisles have in the centre two 3-light windows and to east and west, a 2-light window, all with flush mullions. North aisle has integral east chapel. Flat roofed west porches have cable moulded stone doorcases with panelled double doors, and over them, relief panels. North and south sides have 3-light flush mullioned windows. Gabled west tower, 2 stages, has shallow angle buttresses and bracketed eaves on corbels. Tall pointed arched recess to west with a tall cross casement and below it, a pair of half-glazed doors flanked by single small windows. Inset upper stage has 5-light bell openings to east and west, and in each gable, a round opening. INTERIOR: rendered with brick dado throughout. Groin vaulted choir and sanctuary, with plain pointed arch and a single transverse rib. Blank east end has a pointed arched recess, and brick piscina and sedilia. North side has a pointed arched opening to the side chapel. On either side, a single casement. In the chancel arch, a brick screen wall with slab coping, flanked by a canted brick pulpit and lectern enclosure in the same style. Vestries have cross passage with double doors and octagonal roof lights. North-east chapel has rendered cross beam ceiling. To west, opening to north aisle closed by glazed wooden screen c1980. To north, moulded stone recess with wrought-iron grille, containing Founders' book. Nave has built-up king post roof with struts and wall posts on corbels. 5 bay arcades have plain pointed arches and square brick piers, the eastern arches opening into the transepts. North arcade has 4 western bays enclosed with glazed wooden screens with doors, c1980. West end has a pointed arched recess framing a tall segment-headed opening with projecting panelled wooden gallery. Under the gallery, a half-glazed double door with sidelights. North aisle, now meeting room, has 4 windows and to west, a door c1980. South aisle has flat roof with span beams on corbels, and 5 windows. At each end, a double door. Central baptistry at west end has cross beam ceiling and a door at each side. Brick and concrete stair to gallery. Flanking porches have octagonal rooflights and panelled double doors. Fittings include tapered octagonal ashlar font with wave pattern. Wooden altar rail, 1976. Chairs throughout, with panelled screens at nave east end.
