House. 1856. By TC Hine of Nottingham. White brick, with ashlar and stucco dressings and hipped slate roofs with tile crest and 2 coped ridge stacks. First floor sill band, string course, and coped brick parapet with ball finials at the corners. Windows are mainly original margin light sashes with moulded surrounds. 3 storeys plus attics; 2 window range. The house is entered from Castle Grove at first floor level. South-west garden front has to right a slightly projecting bay with C20 glaze double doors. Above, a single sash on each floor, the upper one smaller. Above again, a shaped coped gable with a single round-headed window. To left, a canted bay window, 3 storeys, 3 sashes, with coped balustrade. Above and behind, a coped gable with a round-headed window. Right return has to left a similar bay window, flanked to right by a sash. Attic has a 3-light mullioned window. Rear, to Castle Grove, has pairs of round-arched windows and to right, a round-arched doorway under a round gable. Large glazed conservatory on north-west side. This building is part of TC Hine's earliest phase of the development of the Castle Park for the Duke of Newcastle.
