Pair of houses with shops at ground floor. c.1800, late C19/early C20 shopfronts. Mass wall construction. No.1 is painted stucco. No.2 is painted stucco, lined and blocked out. The right return is roughcast . The left return is part red brick, part roughcast . No.1 has an asbestos slate roof, No.2 has coated, corrugated iron sheets. Cast iron rainwater goods.
Mirror plan pair.
Exterior: 3 storeys. Boxed eaves and eaves cornice. Each house is one bay wide. Platband between first and second floors.
No.1 has a C20 shop front with plate glass windows. Entrance to the right with glazed door with low panel. Rectangular overlight with extended teardrop glazing bars. At first floor level two 16-pane hornless sash windows. At second floor level a 4 over 8-pane hornless sash window to the left side. To the right is a small, one-light secondary casement.
No.2 has a panelled door to the left with fielded panels; rectangular overlight. To the right is a late C19/early C20 shop front. Plate glass windows canted in to a central recessed shop entrance. The shop windows are high transomed with glazing bars above. Glazed door with 2 low panels; rectangular overlight. At first floor level No.2 has a single boxed, hornless sash window with 12 panes. At second floor level is a 3/6-pane hornless boxed sash window.
INTERIOR: Only partially inspected. No.1 has 2 inner entrances behind the main entrance. The one to the left leads to the shop, the one ahead leads to stairs and the accommodation above. No.2 has an inner porch behind the left entrance.
