HISTORICAL NOTE: this building has considerable similarities in design and layout to the junior schools built by the Sheffield School Board during the preceding 10 years, perhaps because illustrations of them were published by the architects, Innocent & Brown, in 1874. (Researches by G Hague, Sheffield City Council; Innocent & Brown: Illustrations of Public Elementary Schools (etc): Sheffield: 1874-: RIBA LIBRARY).
