GV II

Cutlery forge and assembly shop, now silversmith's workshop. c1864. Brick with stone sills and slate roof with 2 brick ridge stacks. Single storey; 8 window range. Windows are 12 pane sashes with slight segmental heads. South side has to left a window flanked to left by a board door and to right by a blocked doorway. To their right, 3 windows, the right one blocked, then a segment-headed door and a window. At the rear, 6 windows. To right, a glazed lean-to addition covering 2 blocked windows. INTERIOR has to left a complete blade forge, and in the right part, a hob grate with a back boiler. This building was used for the manufacture of decorators' spatulas and scrapers. It is a survivor of the once-numerous Little Mesters' workshops, a form of small scale industry characteristic of Sheffield.
