GV II
Police station, now offices. Mid C19, with early C20 attic storey and later C20 alterations. Brick with ashlar front. Roof not visible. Italianate style. EXTERIOR: plinth, string course, sillbands, dentilled main cornice. 3 storeys plus basement and attics; 8 window range. Recessed centre flanked by projecting bays. Windows are mainly metal framed tilting casements, those to the ground floor and first floors with round heads and keystones. Rusticated ground floor has in the centre 4 windows and beyond, single windows. Beyond, to right, set back bay with a single window. Beyond, to left, C20 double doors and canopy. Above, 4 windows separated by round shafts and with linked hoodmould, flanked by single windows. To right, a single window, and to left, C20 addition with single window. Above again, 4 windows in the centre, flanked by single windows. Beyond, to right, a single window. Attic storey has 5 windows. Basement has channelled rustication and in the centre, 4 plain sashes, with a single sash to left. All these windows have board shutters. To right, a shouldered cart entrance with traceried wrought-iron gates. INTERIOR not inspected.
