GV II

Electric street lamp standards. Early C20; made by James Allan and Son, Glasgow. Ornate cast-iron, with acanthus leaf decoration on the balusters above the pedestals, a tall slender tapered shaft with ladder bars and surmounted by finials and ornate brackets holding the lanterns. On the base of the pedestal is partly legible inscription: 'James Allan and ...and Son, Elnbank Foundry, Glasgow'. The lamp standards have group value with other listed buildings in The Strand.
